The Cove

Ric O'Barry, Louie Psihoyos, Hayden Panettiere -- About dolphin killing in Japan. If it's true, they have a lot to apologize for. 2 3/4 out of 5 stars. (2009-PG-13)

Blood on the Flat Track: The Rise of the Rat City Roller Girls

Momma Cherry, Basket Casey, Drew Blood, Dirty Little Secret -- The real story of the Seattle Roller Derby league. Kind of like "Whip It". I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars. (2007-NR)

The Damned United

Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall, Colm Meaney -- Football. Football. It's called soccer! Football is an American support. Soccer great Brian Clough managers several teams in the 70s, including one called Leeds United. He thinks Leeds United is playing dirty soccer, and he sets out to change that. It's actually quite good. I would rate it 3 3/4 out of 5 stars. (2008-R)

The September Issue

Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, Andre Leon Talley -- "The Devil Wears Prada" in real life. It's about "Vogue" and the September issue. It seems the September issue is a big deal. At least in the "Devil" there was one nice character. I would give it 2 3/4 out of 5 stars. (2008-PG-13)

Everybody's Fine

Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell -- Another chick flick. Such a stellar cast; a disappointing movie. At one point, he cries to his wife's headstone. But in the end, peace reigns over the joyous land. Not even one car crash in an hour and a half movie. I wouldn't want to see it again! I would rate it a 2 3/4 out of 5 stars. (2009-PG-13)

Love Happens

Aaron Eckhart, Jennifer Aniston, Martin Sheen -- A self-help guru falls in love with a girl from a flower shop. The highlight of the film was a trip to the Home Depot store. Everybody cries in the end. Definitely a chick flick. I would rate it 3 out of 5. (2009-PG-13)

Assassination of a High School President

Reese Thompson, Bruce Willis, Mischa Barton, Michael Rapaport -- A high school reporter gets wind that the president has taken the S.A.T. tests. But as he investigates further, a completely new set of suspects appear. I liked Bruce Willis as the high school principal. Kind of like "Brick" starring Lukas Haas. I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars. (2008-R)

Public Enemies

Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Leelee Sobieski -- A great flick! Based on the life of John Dillinger. Johnny Depp had all his mannerisms down. I loved it. 5 out of 5 rating. (2009-R)

Whiteout

Kate Beckinsale, Tom Skerritt -- She plays a U.S. Marshal in Antarctica. He plays a doctor. And something about Soviet plutonium and diamonds. Too many players, not enough action. I would rate it 3 out of 5 stars. (2009-R)

Monday, February 15, 2010

Lust for Life

Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn -- The life of Vincent van Gogh and his brother, Theo. Also starring Anthony Quinn (who got the nod for Best Supporting Actor that year for his portrayal of Paul Gauguin). I would give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. (1956-NR)

Friday, February 12, 2010

My One and Only

Renee Zellweger, Kevin Bacon, Chris Noth, David Koechner -- A vapid tale of the teenage life of the Sun God, George Hamilton. Renée Zellweger was all right, but the rest of the cast was terrible! I would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. (2009-PG-13)

The Final Destination

Bobby Campo, Shantel VanSanten, Haley Webb, Nick Zano -- I never knew there were so many ways to die. I wished I seen it in 3-D. Stupid but fun. I would give it 3 out of 5 stars. (2009-R)

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

I Hate Valentine's Day

John Corbett, Nia Vardalos, Rachel Dratch, Judah Friedlander -- A guy, a girl, and Valentine's Day. So right for "My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding", so bad for "I Hate Valentine's Day". I would rate it a 2 1/4 out of 5 stars. (2009-PG-13)

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

The Stepfather

Sela Ward, Dylan Walsh, Penn Badgley, Amber Heard -- A complete waste of time. Scary? I don't think so! I would rate it 2 3/4 out of 5 stars. (2009-UR)

Bronson

Tom Hardy -- Britain's most infamous convict, he is alive today.Charles Bronson has been in prison a total 35 years for burglary. AWFUL! I would give it a 1 out of 5 stars. (2008-R)

Sunday, February 7, 2010

A Serious Man

Michael Stuhlbarg, Adam Arkin, George Wyner, Richard Kind -- The worst Coen Brothers movie I have ever seen! Even worse than "Burn After Reading". Awful! I would give it a 1 1/2 out of 5 stars. (2009-R)

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Couples Retreat

Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Kristin Davis -- Four couples go on a retreat. That's it, end of story. A couple of good laughs, but that's it. I would rate it 2 1/2 out of 5 stars. (2009-PG-13)

Friday, February 5, 2010

Black Dynamite

Michael Jai White, Arsenio Hall, Tommy Davidson, Nicole Sullivan -- A "blaxploitation" about the "baddest mutha in house". A comedy/drama done the way "Death Proof" and "Planet of Terror" were done. "Shaft", "Superfly", and "Hammer" all rolled up into one! I would rate it 3 3/4 out of 5 stars. (2009-R)

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Ong Bak 2: The Beginning

Tony Jaa, Sorapong Chatree -- No "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", but a good kung fu movie. Especially the fight scene near the end. I was disappointed in the ending. I would rate it 3 out of 5 stars. (2008-R)

The Boys Are Back

Clive Owen, George MacKay, Nicholas McAnulty -- A recently widowed father tries raising his boys on his own. Sappy sweet. I would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. (2009-PG-13)

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Zombieland

Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Bill Murray -- I love this movie from the beginning to the end! It's about, you guessed it, zombies. It is about four people going across country. Each of them have their quarks. They end up going to Pacific Playland, and an amusement park out on the west coast. Oh, and Wichita's name is Krista. Now that I've seen it again, I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. (2009-R)

Whip It

Ellen Page, Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis, Drew Barrymore -- I can't help it- I love this movie! I saw it in the theater and I rented it when it came out on video. It is about the girls involved in roller derby. Ellen Page takes on Juliette Lewis in the league championship. I have been to several roller derby matches since I saw this movie. I would rate it 5 out of 5 stars. (2009-PG-13)
